How We Live

 

REVEAL - KNOW - LIVE

Our prayer is for God to REVEAL himself to us in such a way that we KNOW him. And as we KNOW him more we learn to LIVE for him in such a way that we REVEAL him to others!

 

REVEAL

I Samuel 3:21 - “The Lord continued to appear at Shiloh and there he REVEALED himself to Samuel through his Word”

God REVEALS himself to us through a variety of ways:

  • Through his Creation: Psalm 19:1,2 - “The heavens declare the Glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. Day to Day pours out speech, and night to night REVEALS knowledge.”

  • Through his Word: Psalm 33:6 - “By the Word of the Lord were the heavens made, their starry host by the breath of his mouth”

  • Through his Son: John 1:14 - “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us”

  • Through other Believers: Hebrews 10:24 - “let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works”

 

KNOW

John 17:3 - “This is Eternal life, that they may KNOW you, the only true God and Jesus Christ whom you have sent”

It begins with KNOWING Jesus:

John 14:6,7 - “Jesus said to him, ‘I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you had KNOWN me, you would have KNOWN my Father also.”

The example we have from the early church in the book of Acts is that right from the very beginning they devoted themselves to a few things in order to KNOW Jesus more.

Acts 2:42 - “And they devoted themselves to the Apostles teaching and the Fellowship, to the Breaking of Bread and to Prayer.”

We believe, that like the early church, we need to devote ourselves to a few things in order to KNOW Jesus more:

  • The Word (the apostles teaching)

  • Fellowship with other believers

  • Prayer

 

LIVE

I John 4:9 - “This is how God showed his Love among us: he sent his son into the world that we might LIVE through him”

We are Called to LIVE as Jesus Lived:

I John 2:6 - “whoever claims to LIVE in him must LIVE as Jesus did”

I John 4:12 - “If we Love one another God LIVES in us”

I John 4:16 - “whoever LIVES in Love LIVES in God”

I John 3:16 - “and we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters”

 

What We Believe

  • We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God. (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21)

  • We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19)

  • We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory. (Philippians 2:6-11; 1 Peter 3:18; Romans 5:9; Matthew 26:64)

  • We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful people, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential. (Titus 3:4-7)

  • We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life. (John 14:15-18; John 16:13; John 16:7-11)

  • We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation. (1 Corinthians 15:10-23; John 5:28-29)

  • We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 1:22-23; Acts 2:41-47)
